(Expand each section for more information)

  • If you know you will be in an environment with loud sounds (i.e., a holiday is approaching, you will be at space where loud sounds will occur, etc.) , take preventative steps prior to the anticipated exposure to minimize possible negative effects.

    Suggestions:

    • Have good earplugs readily available

    • Cover your head with white or light colored cloth the night prior to and the day of anticipated exposure.

    • Touch your head to the Earth often and ask that it support and ground you.

    • Hold your head with both hands for a few minutes and imagine that you are surrounded by an impenetrable energy field.

    • Pray to Olodumare / Source / All That Is / God, your higher self, Ancestors, guides, and other beings for support.

      • Use* essential oils, herbs, plant medicine, teas, tinctures, or other tools that are calming.

  • Immediately following the sound, take action to break through any resulting rigidity and shock. Examples (some of these may also be used as preventative measures).

    Suggestions:

    • Tap into your breathing and bring it [back] to a steady and easeful rhythm.

    • Fan your face/body with your hands or another object to create additional air circulation.

    • Walk around or move your body in other fluid/flowing/undulating motions.

    • Listen to soothing sounds/music.

    • Begin a meditation practice.

    • Find ways to be in gratitude for, receive the lessons from, and see the humor in the sounds.

  • Make the decisions that take your well being into consideration or enlist the support of someone that can do so on your behalf to keep you shielded from sounds that disturb you.

    Suggestions:

    • Avoid or leave areas/functions where you will not be able to avoid sounds you don’t prefer.

    • Ask individuals responsible for the sounds about the possibility of reductions or alternatives

  • Often times our past experiences and traumas can affect the ways we relate with and respond to certain sounds that would otherwise be innocuous. Identifying areas of growth and healing with the help of others or on your own can lessen if not completely eradicate the negative impact of those sounds.

    Suggestions:

  • Step 1

While breathing steadily, sit with a sound you don’t prefer—listen to it for no more than 9 seconds at a time

    Step 2

Say: Spirit, reveal to me any experience, memory, or belief that has been fused with this sound in a way that is clear to me.

    Step 3

Meditate or sit in silence for 1 minute and document everything that comes up—emotions, physical sensations, thoughts, visions, etc.,

    Step 4

Repeat steps 1-3 two more times

    Step 5

Say a message of gratitude to the sound and yourself for the illumination that occurs.

    Step 6

When you wake up then next day, pay attention to any messages that comes through. Don’t discount anything as everything is an opportunity for greater awareness.
